Organic Aquaculture
At present Villa is leading within organic production of salmon. We therefore also feel extra responsibility for further development of cleaner and more sustainable feed, and efficient use of cleanerfish. At present, the market segment for organic salmon serves mainly customers who are selective and pay high prices at home and abroad. It is not without reason that our best market at present is the US and the UK. We see that more and more people all over the world are beginning to be more aware of what they eat, and new markets for organic food are developing daily. Because of this, more and more resources are being put into operating with organic and sustainable production of both food and feed. That is why certifying agencies such as Debio, Krav, IFOAM and Naturland are so important, so that we can maintain this development towards a more environmental friendly production which can benefit generations to come.
